What is physical therapy?

PT is the use of exercises and other manual techniques to promote function, movement and strength to facilitate the healing process. We also use modalities such as heat, ice, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ect as a secondary treatment to decrease painful symptoms.

What types of injuries and ailments can physical therapists treat?

Virtually anything that involves the neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal systems, including the extremities (arms, legs), spine (neck and back), "vestibular systems" (eyes and ears), mouth and jaw, trunk and abdominal region, and the interactions of all the above.

Who performs these treatments at Tri-State?

The initial evaluation and re-evaluations are performed by a licensed physical therapist. Treatments are performed by licensed physical therapists (PTs) and licensed physical therapy assistants (PTAs). We do not employ physical therapy aides or technicians who do not have professional qualifications to treat patients.

Will my treatment sessions be one-on-one or in a group?

At Tri-State Rehab Services you will receive one-on-one therapy from a highly trained licensed physical therapist or physical therapy assistant. All PTs and PTAs support our philosophy of excellent therapy services combined with fitness maintenance to produce the best results for our patients.

What sets Tri-State apart from its competitors?

Tri-State offers one-on-one therapy, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, cost-effective treatment and an unmatched commitment to our patients. We believe in working with you to meet your needs and prevent injuries from returning. And just as we are committed to our patients, we're also actively involved in our communities, lending our time and support to local charities, schools and community events.

Must I have a physician's referral to receive treatment at Tri-State?

No. Most states, including Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, do not require a prescription for physical therapy services: However, most insurance companies require prescription for reimbursement. At your initial visit, we will contact your insurance company to determine your benefits and co-payment. This way, the customer will know the cost of services before treatment begins. As a general rule, it is best to check with your individual insurance provider before beginning physical therapy.

Is it possible for problems to return after I have completed physical therapy?

Our goal at Tri-State Rehab Services is to educate you with the proper "Do's and Don'ts," techniques we use to prevent re-injury and to maintain the level of function that you have obtained while in physical therapy. Tri-State Rehab Services staff strongly believes that your number one tool to combat your condition is an informed mind. We believe so strongly in this philosophy that we also established our Preferred Fitness Centers alongside our rehabilitation services to continue your exercise maintenance program long after physical therapy has been completed. We encourage all our patients - and the public at-large - to make physical fitness a priority. This is essential in preventing re-injury and preventing future problems from arising. We cannot give you a 100 percent guarantee that your injury won't return, but following the Tri-State philosophy of prevention and maintenance significantly lowers your chances of reoccurrence.

Are Preferred Fitness Centers limited to patients and former patients of the physical therapy clinics?

No. The Preferred Fitness Centers are open to the public (men and women). Children 15 and younger are to be accompanied by an adult.

I am considering opening my own physical therapy clinic, but have fears about competition and changes in the insurance market. Is private practice physical therapy still a lucrative business?

The benefits of owning a Tri-State Rehab practice offer limitless potential for the growth of your business. Our expert medical billers, marketing team and proven practice techniques will compliment what you do best - taking care of patients. Tri-State Rehab services allows you to hit the ground running.
